For Employers

Your payroll, governed by rules you set.

The Affordability and Deduction Management Platform becomes the single gateway between your payroll and every provider that wants to deduct from it. Developed and managed by Reset Technology Group (Pty) Ltd. No cost to the employer.

Reset Direct For Employers

Eight controls, applied by the system,
with no exception facility.

1

A single gate.

No provider can place a deduction on the payroll except through the platform.

2

A ceiling on the total.

Tested against the aggregate, not each instalment in isolation.

3

A minimum take-home floor.

An otherwise affordable deduction is still refused if it breaches the floor.

4

Capacity reserved at approval.

Closes the window in which a second lender commits the same money.

5

Affordability off payroll data.

Assessed against what the platform holds, not documents the applicant supplies.

6

Confirmation before funds move.

A provider cannot advance money and then discover the deduction will not collect.

7

Accreditation before access.

Only vetted, licensed providers are admitted. Unregulated lenders never get on.

8

A complete audit trail.

Every deduction, and the overall indebtedness of your workforce, visible at any time.

None of these are settings a person can override. The rules are executed by the platform and a payroll clerk has no facility to make an exception.

What happened when the platform was put onto an ungoverned national payroll.

This is the closest available parallel to an open payroll with no rules. On entry, providers had taken capacity until there was none left, zero payslips were commonplace, and the banks refused to participate at all, because an ungoverned deduction gave them no more certainty than a debit order.

UngovernedGoverned
84% of employees on the payroll were over-indebtedZero over-indebted by the end of the first year. 12% at six months, from 84%. No zero payslips today.
Collections averaged 61.08%Collections now average 99.7%

Same payroll, same employees, same lenders. What changed was the integration and the rule set. Once collection risk was removed, the banks came onto the payroll, consolidated employees' existing debt and replaced it at far better rates. The group lends nothing on that payroll. It governs the environment and licensed providers compete on it.

“You would control our deductions
and also lend on our payroll.”

It is a structural feature of the model. We would rather tell you how it is governed than suggest it does not exist.
Two companies, not one
The ADMP is developed and managed by Reset Technology Group (Pty) Ltd. The consolidation loan is provided by Reset Direct (Pty) Ltd. Same group, separate legal entities, separate agreements, separate regulatory footprints.

The rules are yours.

You set the ceiling, the floor and the accreditation standard. They are recorded in the agreement and cannot be amended unilaterally.

Applied to Reset Direct identically.

The platform operator is not the lender. The engine cannot distinguish between Reset Direct and any other accredited provider, and there is no exception facility.

You see everything.

Every request received, approved or declined, by provider, including ours. You may have your own auditor test it.

Competitors are not excluded.

Accreditation criteria sit in the agreement. Any provider meeting them is admitted, and competition works in your employees' favour.

On the national payroll where this platform has run for more than fifteen years, the group does not lend at all.

Scoped to your payroll system, and upgradeable over time.

File exchangeQuickest startFastest to implement and asks least of your IT function. Deduction data is periodic rather than live.
Semi-integratedRecommended startA service operating alongside your payroll environment. The recommended starting point for most employers.
Full real-time integrationRecommended end stateQuote requests, affordability checks, deduction changes and collection confirmations happen live.

The party who benefits from collection certainty pays. Not the employer.

PartyPosition
The employerPays nothing. Receives the platform, the rules engine, lifecycle administration, reporting and the audit trail at no cost.
Financial service providersPay a collection fee for accredited access to the payroll channel, in exchange for the highest collection reliability in the market.
EmployeesPay nothing for the platform, the app or the wellness programme. Consolidation is voluntary and priced within regulated limits.
Reset Technology Group (Pty) LtdOperates the ADMP and earns the provider collection fees. It is not a lender and advances no credit on your payroll.
Reset Direct (Pty) LtdIs the lender. Earns from consolidation lending only, as one accredited provider among others, and depends on you retaining the agreement.

What the employer does commit

  • A payroll data feed or file exchange on the agreed integration option
  • Sign-off from HR and payroll on the rule set, documented in the agreement
  • Access to staff for communication and activation sessions, arranged in advance
  • A named project owner for the duration of implementation

Time and cooperation, not money. We would rather be precise about this now than let the word free mean something different to each of us at implementation.

A ban is a locked door. This is a door with a guard on it.

If you have banned third-party deductions, the debt did not go away. Your employees are servicing it out of net pay, at the highest prices in the market, through a collection method that fails and charges a fee every time it does. You simply cannot see it. The diagnostic still applies: we look at attachment order volumes and salary advance requests instead.

The Payroll Deduction Health Check

What we need

A de-identified extract of current third-party deductions showing, for each anonymous employee reference: gross and net salary, statutory deduction total, and each third-party deduction by provider, type and amount, together with employment type, grade or band, and pay frequency.

What you receive

  • The proportion of your workforce above recognised affordability thresholds
  • How many employees are at or near a zero net payslip, and where they sit
  • Provider count, concentration and product mix
  • A modelled position after consolidation inside a proposed rule set
  • A proposed rule set for your consideration. The decision is yours
